The Holy Preaching
Dominican life is lived out in the context of the Holy Preaching and is rooted in the four pillars of prayer, study, community and ministry.

  • Dominic the founder of the Dominican Order exhorted his followers to live always in the presence of God.

  • Dominic also exhorted his followers to be joyful.  For this reason St. Dominic is referred to as “joyful friar”.

  • Today, we his followers follow his example and engage in the Holy Preaching joyfully and truthfully as we live out his message in a variety of ways.  Each of us brings unique gifts to the Holy Preaching.

  • Today you find Dominicans engaged in the Holy Preaching in parishes, schools,. universities, health care, retreat work, social justice, arenas and in communities centered on living a contemplative life.
